Steve Mackey Interview: “Just get up and keep moving forward…”

On this Steve Mackey Interview: Culture shock of moving from rural West Virginia to Berklee in Boston, hilarious story of a failed audition with rocker Mike Ness (Social Distortion), some low points in between gigs, figuring out how to make it in the Nashville session scene, playing with Peter Frampton, Lee Roy Parnell, The Wallflowers… golf without walking, family, being a dad, and why it’s all compound interest. TONS of Laughs here, great vibe and lots of energy:

A first-call session bassist in Nashville, Steve’s first gig was with Felix Cavaliere. He’s  recorded or toured with Lee Roy Parnell, Wynonna Judd, Trisha Yearwood, Dolly Parton, John Oates, Garth Brooks, Luke Combs, Steve Wariner, Deana Carter and others. He is also currently touring with Peter Frampton and The Wallflowers, and has been a member of the Bonnaroo Super Jam backing band

  1. Holy crap…I know Steve very well or at least I did when he was playing with Lee Roy Parnell. I lost touch with him over the years but if anyone that reads this talks to him tell him Doc Brown would love to see him.
